Sailing Away

Introducing "You" and the power that comes from pushing away from the dock.

sunny 26 °C

I am a lover of public radio and Diet Pepsi who decided to take the passion I have for the new and the noteworthy to Zaragoza. With my heart sewn carefully my sleeve and a head full of hopes and visions, I made my way into the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain.

Each day, I am blessed with beautiful new experiences. I would like to share those experiences and the lessons I have learned from them with you.

Now, "you" could be an old friend, my mother, a blogger from Moscow, or a farmer from Italy. The possibilities are endless, which is why I have a love for the internet and the way it manages to fit us together; connecting pieces and people that previously would have continued along their paths with a heart that was missing the comfort that new relationships and adventures can bring.

I am excited to share with you, whoever you may be, my adventures and my new relationships. It is my hope that you will find a home in my words and the words of others who are helping me along my journey.

While creating a plan for my gap year, I stumbled across a quote by Franklin Delano Roosevelt that has given me the strength to wake up every morning and work on designing a healthier, happier version of myself.

"To reach a port, we must sail - sail, not tie at anchor - sail, not drift."

Drifting through life is wonderful, but sailing, sailing is a destination. A destination that brings beautiful things your way. The rewards that come from steering yourself towards your to-do's and facing your fears are ones that make this life full of golden sunsets and sweet sunrises.

So whether you are waking up in Ann Arbor, Michigan or falling asleep in Bangkok, Thailand know that there is a girl who is currently sailing the seven seas and wants you to be a part of her crew.

I am that girl. My name is Miranda Rose Barrie. And if you're ready, I'm going to set sail with you as my confidant, co-captain, and closest friend.
